I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it many more. Creating content for your website is really important. Let me stress that again, creating content for your website is really important.
At Young Digital Group, we help businesses get online with websites and a social media presence, but we also work on making you more visible online. Just putting up a new website does not mean traffic will flock to your website, yes, you may have the best product or service, but if you’re not promoting it then it’s hard to get found. Promoting your website can be done in many ways, like adding your website link to you business card, brochure and email signature, but this is pretty limited to people you come in contact with.
Getting your website in front of people who are searching for your product/service, at the time they need it is the important part. This comes down to a couple of main factors, are you using keywords (the words people use in search engines to find what they’re looking for) in your content and is the content on social networks?
Keywords within your content, in the heading, page title and description will help the search engines know what you’re talking about and will help to match your product/service with the people looking for it. This is Search Engine Optimisation – now there is a lot more to it than this, but in it’s basic form this is what it comes down to.
Social Media is important for validation; the more people that talk about and share your content means the more relevant it is, meaning the search engines will favor it more (than sites without social validation).
To do all the Search Engine Optimisation and Social Media you need to create content which goes onto your website and share that with your social networks. Keep creating content for your website to solidify your offering, making sure the search engines remember you and also to tell your story. Some people will want to research a lot before they make contact, so make sure you have lots of great content which they can read/watch/listen.
I’ve talked about this a lot on my regular radio segments – I’m a guest every few weeks on the science and tech show Beyond Infinity and the business show Taking Care of Business, the shows have podcasts, so if you would like to listen in just head to their podcast pages.
Content Creation for Young Digital Group involves many things including videos (uploaded to YouTube then added to this site), we write articles and add photos. We’re actually about to begin a new content creation course which will be video based and available on Udemy. It’s early days yet and will take a while to put together, but the course will cover details on how to identify keywords, how to create content, adding it to your website, sharing it with your social networks and optimising for the search engines. It will be designed for the intermediate user, someone seeking to build content for their own website and needing a roadmap for the process.
If there is something you would like us to add into the course, please leave a comment below. If you would like to be kept up to date with the progress, make sure you are subscriber to our newsletter (we will be giving away some free passes to subscribers).
Create some content for your site, maybe a simple article, maybe take a photo or video, whatever it is, make it helpful and informative, then share it with your social networks, there’s not better time than now.
